Research Interests

Replication and gene expression of murine coronaviruses; virus host interactions; molecular basis of pathogenesis of murine coronavirus induced hepatitis and demyelinating disease; pathogenesis of Theiler's murine encephalitis virus induced demyelination; triggering of programmed cell death during murine coronavirus and Theiler's virus infection. In order to understand how a virus produces a particular disease it is necessary to understand the molecular details of virus replication. MHV is a large single-stranded RNA virus, and currently my laboratory has been actively investigating several problems in viral host interactions.
